The Ebène Quartet has announced the appointment of Adrien Boisseau as its new violist from January 2015, following the June departure of Mathieu Herzog, who performed with the French ensemble for 15 years.

23-year-old Boisseau has studied at L'Ecole Nationale de Musique de Nevers, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler and the Kronberg Academy. He was awarded first prize at the International Max Rostal Competition in Berlin in 2009, and second prize at the Yuri Bashmet International Viola Competition in 2013.

Quatuor Ebène has made a series of diverse recordings for Warner Classics ranging from Mozart, Brahms and Debussy to film music, pop and jazz arrangements.
