Midori_String

At the age of 14, violinist Midori performs the fifth movement of Bernstein's Serenade after Plato's Symposium, conducted by the composer. When she breaks her E string, she quickly swaps her own three-quarter-sized violin for the concertmaster's full-sized violin. When the E string snaps again, she swaps the instrument for the associate concertmaster's violin without missing a beat.

Watch soloist Marek Pavelec's keep cool under pressure when his E string snaps during a performance of Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole, op.21.
