Julian Rachlin has been named the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic’s artist in residence next season, as the UK orchestra celebrates its 175th anniversary year. The Lithuanian-born violinist will perform as conductor, soloist and chamber musician in a diverse set of concert programmes from 19-28 November 2015.

Rachlin will perform Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto on 19 November and Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto on 22 November, each conducted by Long Yu, and will conduct and direct Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto alongside Mozart Symphonies nos. 5 and 35 on 26 November.  He will also take part in a musical discussion on 21 November and perform Brahms chamber music with members of the RLPO on 28 November.

Rachlin is continuing to grow his conducting portfolio, while maintaining an active performing career, and becomes principal guest conductor of the UK’s Royal Northern Sinfonia in the 2015-16 season.
