Sfz - A force for young string players

Editor's Letter

September is with us, and along with millions of students around the world you're probably gearing up for the new academic year. If you're anything like I was as a student you're feeling guilty about not practising enough during the holidays and you've become overly used to late lie-ins.

If you're about to go into your first year at music college you may be feeling particularly apprehensive, but there's no need to be. On page 9 we find out the best strategies for dealing with that crucial first week, and on page 18 we talk to the experts about how to stay happy. If you are happy, you might want to share it with others: on page 15 we talk to people who have taken their music to those who need it most - the young, the old and the ill.

For the first time, we're publishing this issue of Sfz in digital form only. We're hoping that this will mean that it reaches more of you, in every corner of the world, so tell all your friends about it and let us know what you think: email us at sfz@orpheuspublications.com.

Ariane Todes, Editor-in-Chief
