The Brodsky Quartet has suffered the theft of 40 string quartet scores while on a tour of the Netherlands. Concert clothes and a laptop computer were also stolen from the back of the group’s car, following a performance in Haarlem on 14 November. The quartet has offered a €500 reward for the scores’ safe return.

The Brodskys were carrying the scores for their ‘Wheel of 4Tunes’ project, in which string quartets are selected at random from a choice of 40 each evening. The scores were selected by the players as some of their favourites over the past four decades of performance, and included several in manuscript form, which were written for the group.

The Brodskys have stated that the final concert in the six-date tour will go ahead, with the group playing a standard concert using scores loaned by friends.
