A bow maker in Singapore has swapped horsehair for human hair as part of a promotion for a shampoo brand.
Paul Goh’s services were called upon by the Singapore and Manila branches of advertising agency J. Walter Thompson, which wanted to find a new way to demonstrate the promise of strong hair. Goh replaced the horsehair on four violin bows with human hair that had been washed and conditioned with the shampoo.
A Filipina group then used the bows in a concert in a Manila shopping mall, billed by the agency as the world’s first human hair quartet. The group played 40 songs, clocking up four hours of music, with apparently ‘zero hair breakage’.
