Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason performs Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah

BBC Young Musician 2016 winner Sheku Kanneh-Mason performs Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah in an arrangement by composer-pianist Tom Hodge at London’s Abbey Road Studios in the video above.

The 17-year-old cellist performed the work at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) televised ceremony at London’s Royal Albert Hall yesterday evening . The work is also featured on Kanneh-Mason’s new EP – his first release since signing to Decca Classics last year.

The British musician’s debut full-length recording for Decca will feature Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto no.1, the piece with which he won the BBC Young Musician.
